My practice

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), trained to diagnose and treat acute and severe psychopathology (e.g. depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.).

I completed a 4yr Bachelors Degree in Psychology (B.Psych) at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), as well as a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology (M.Psych) from the University of the Western Cape.

I completed my psychology internship in the Department of Defence (DOD) at 2 Military Hospital in Wynberg, Cape Town where my clients consisted of military members, veterans, and their dependents (spouses, children, parents, etc.). This internship included paediatric, palliative care, and psychiatric rotations, consisting of individual (adults, teenagers, children), couples, family, and group sessions. Psychometric assessments (IQ, personality, neuroscreening, and emotional assesments) were also conducted.

I completed my community service within the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) at George Correctional Centre in the Southern Cape Mangagement Area. During this time, I worked with the rehabilitation of criminal offenders, conducting individual and group psychological interventions, with a special focus on substance rehabilitation and psychoeducational groups.

My work experience also includes working with trauma related to women and children abuse, having completed counselling internships at Saartjie Baartman Centre and Jellybeanz Clinic in Cape Town. I also have further psychotherapeutic experience with substance related disorders having worked at Kensington Treatment Centre in Cape Town and The Huguenot-Vincere Clinic in Plettenberg Bay. My most recent work experience has been working as a psychologist and an officer in the military (SAMHS).

I am very focussed on working in a professional and ethical manner. I therefore pride myself on my work ethic and best practice principles. It is very important to me that the client receives the best possible intervention and that is why I have the interest of the client at heart. I can easily form part of a multi-disciplinary team, which is necessary for ensuring that the client's process is followed according to the therapeutic needs identified and to promote good mental health, social systems and general functioning.
